Stress Free Holiday Cleaning

Every year during the holiday season, my family visits my home. Like many people, I become frantic about beautifully decorating my home. After the tree is put up, I am always left with strewn boxes and tree needles all over the floor. Because I want everything to look perfect, I usually clean for days after decorating. This activity usually leaves me cheerless by the time my family arrives. This year, I realized that I don’t have to do this never ending chore on my own. By hiring a professional cleaning service, I can beautify my home without unnecessary stress. On this blog, you will learn about the benefits of hiring a cleaning service to help you during the holidays. Enjoy this holiday season without the work!

Make A Mosaic Themed Plaque To Hang Up Over Your Mini Bar

Use ceramic tile pieces to make a mosaic decorative wall plaque to hang up over your mini bar. The colors will blend in with the decor in the room and give your bar an updated appearance.

Use The Following Items

  • ceramic tiles
  • hammer
  • freezer bag
  • protective goggles
  • grout
  • tile adhesive
  • putty knife
  • trowel
  • wooden board
  • high grit sandpaper
  • hand sander
  • pattern
  • marker
  • picture hanging kit
  • screwdriver
  • screws
  • cloths
  • sponge
  • metal tray

Sand The Wood And Transfer The Design

Attach a piece of high grit sandpaper to an electric sander. Purchase a wooden board from a lumber supplier. Smooth the surface of the wooden board by moving the sander over the surface with the grain. Wipe the board off with a damp cloth. Dry the surface with another cloth. Use a marker to trace stencils on one side of the board that depict the design that you are using.

Prepare And Attach The Tile Pieces

Place colorful, ceramic tiles in a freezer bag. Set the bag on a hard surface. Put on a pair of protective goggles. Break up the pieces in the bag by hitting it with a hammer several times. After the pieces are as small as you would like them to be, place them on a tray and sort them. Select pieces to fill in the design that was traced on the wooden board.

Apply tile adhesive to the back of each piece with a putty knife. Make sure that the pieces are evenly coated with the adhesive. Press the tile pieces onto the wooden board. Fill in the design with pieces that are a couple, different colors. Use a different color for the background. The tile adhesive will take several hours to dry. Place the board in a ventilated area while you are waiting.

Fill In Gaps With Grout

Fill in the gaps between the tiles with grout. Apply the grout to the edge of a trowel and insert it into the areas being filled. Use the flat part of the trowel to smooth the surface of the grout so that it is even with the tile pieces. Wait a few hours for the grout to dry. Wipe off the surface of the plaque with a damp sponge to remove residue from the tile pieces.

Hang Up The Plaque

Attach a picture hanger to the back of the plaque with a screwdriver and screws. Place a hook in the wall to hang the plaque from. Whenever you are using your mini bar, gaze at the beautiful wall hanging that you have created.
